The Quiet Harvest
A Ketamine-Assisted Holistic Wellness Retreat
In the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts
October 15-18, 2026
As the leaves fall and the days grow shorter, we turn inward to honor the season of letting go.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, fall corresponds to the Metal element: symbolizing release, refinement, and returning to what is essential.
Join us for a weekend of deep rest, inner guidance, and holistic healing as we shed what no longer serves and reconnect with our core wisdom.

Trained as an anesthesia provider, Adrianna has spent over a decade working within hospital systems across New England, including Yale, Dartmouth, and now Berkshire Medical Center. Her formal education includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2011) and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (2020) from Fairfield University. While her medical career has shaped her deep respect for safety and evidence-based care, her heart has long been called toward holistic and ceremonial healing. For decades, she has explored integrative approaches to wellness, weaving together science, spirit, and the wisdom of nature.
In 2025, Adrianna completed her post-graduate certificate in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy through the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), a globally respected and lineage-holding program led by pioneering clinicians, researchers, educators, and visionary elders at the forefront of the modern psychedelic renaissance. The program emphasized trauma-informed care, ethical stewardship, grounded integration, and evidence-based psychedelic therapy models informed by current clinical research and best practices. Her work blends contemporary research with timeless ceremonial frameworks.
Adrianna now lives in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, where she and her fiancé are tending a 19-acre forested sanctuary and birthing a nature-based wellness retreat center. Here, she plans to host intimate gatherings and ceremonies, offering spaces of stillness, reverence, and remembrance — inviting participants to reconnect with their bodies, their intuition, and the deeper rhythms of the natural world, and to remember their innate capacity for wholeness.

Karen Scott, MD, co-founder of Sapience Therapy, is passionate about the promise of psychedelic medicines to help people find psychological healing and facilitate personal and spiritual growth. She is board certified in internal medicine with 20 years of clinical practice experience, including working in hospital medicine as well as addiction treatment. She has post-graduate training in ketamine assisted psychotherapy, psychedelic integration therapy, and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and holds a certificate in psychedelic therapies and research from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Dr. Scott believes that all people have within them the capacity for wholeness, and that access to this innate healing capacity can be facilitated by the use of consciousness technologies including (but not limited to) psychedelic medicines.
Dr. Scott is a long time practitioner of meditation, and holds with reverence the knowledge that all life is an interconnected whole. She aspires to embody integrity and compassion in all her actions. She believes that our natural state prior to trauma and adversity is inner peace, and that it is the birthright of all people to experience this peace in daily life.

Ariel Stimson is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, musician and naturalist based in the Boston area. She is filled by knowing her patients can find emotional and spiritual peace and deep physical healing when offered compassionate, trauma-informed touch, held in a calm and safe container. Her patients often find solace in her calm and grounding presence, where they feel seen, heard and held. She has a long history of combining eastern and western medicine, beginning formally at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She began on a pre-med track majoring in Psychology with a Neuroscience concentration, then shifted to creating her own major combining Western herbalism, sustainable food and farming, social justice and bicycle mechanics with an emphasis on the supportive role of community, aiming to create a better future for all. Before graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science in 2011, she spent 6 months in India living in an ecovillage studying spirituality, sustainable farming and sound healing. She continued studying Western herbalism, completing an apprenticeship at the Commonwealth school for herbalism in Brookline, MA in 2013 and has worked on numerous small organic farms, living in touch with the natural cycles of the land.
This way of life laid a foundation for her return to higher education to study East Asian medicine at the Oregon College of Oriental medicine, learning nature-based medicine rooted in Taoism. Her education included acupuncture, shiatsu and tuina massage, western clinical education, Chinese herbalism, cupping, moxibustion and more, and her capstone project focused on sound healing within the context of Eastern Medicine. She worked at the Portland Ashwagandha farm and OCOM’s herbal medicinary as a student, then as a supervisor and TA’ed Anatomy and Physiology. Since graduating with a Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine in 2020, she has also completed the Certification in Psychedelic Therapy and Research through the California Institute of Integral Studies where she met Adrianna and her years-long vision of working in healing community offering psychedelic therapy in natural retreat settings is coming to life! In this setting, she offers group and individual acupuncture treatments, sound healing with a stringed instrument called a monochord and again her calm and grounding presence and healing touch to support participants in the deep inner discovery and growth they seek. In her spare time she plays music with friends on electric bass, banjo, or whatever other string instruments she feels inspired to play, she spends time in the woods with her dog, Monkey on foot or mountain bike, hits the climbing gym or retreats to the mountains for rejuvenation when she can.

Through compassionate dialogue, trauma-informed care, and energy-based practices, she helps clients alchemize confusion into clarity, pain into wisdom, and fragmentation into wholeness.

Ketamine is an FDA-approved medication with over 50 years of safe medical use. Originally developed as a surgical anesthetic, researchers and clinicians have since learned that at lower, sub-anesthetic doses, ketamine produces profound effects on mood, perception, and the brain’s capacity for change, offering new hope for conditions that have long resisted conventional treatment.
Over two decades of research has shown promising results for mental health conditions such as generalized anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, substance use disorders, OCD, chronic pain, migraines, and end-of-life existential distress, among others.
Unlike most psychiatric medications that require weeks of daily dosing to take effect, ketamine often produces meaningful relief rapidly, sometimes after a single session. In the retreat setting, this opens a unique window: a period of heightened neuroplasticity during which integration practices such as breathwork, somatic therapy, nature immersion, and community can take root at a deeper level.
Ketamine is prescribed and administered under a rigorous clinical framework, integrating the latest research with deep ceremonial and somatic expertise to help clients deepen their understanding and relationship with themselves and with the world around them.
-
Mechanism of Action
Ketamine works through several interconnected pathways that distinguish it from conventional antidepressants and anxiolytics:
NMDA Receptor Blockade
Ketamine blocks NMDA glutamate receptors, rapidly reducing the neuroinflammation and overactive stress signaling patterns associated with depression, PTSD, and chronic pain.
BDNF & Synaptogenesis
Ketamine triggers a surge of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), stimulating the growth of new synaptic connections, literally rebuilding neural pathways worn down by chronic stress and trauma.
Default Mode Network Disruption
Ketamine temporarily quiets the Default Mode Network, the brain's habitual self-referential thought loop, allowing new patterns of perception, insight, and meaning-making to emerge.
Opioid & Monoamine Pathways
Secondary effects on opioid receptors and monoamine systems (serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine) contribute to its analgesic, mood-elevating, and dissociative properties.
-
Ketamine therapy has a growing body of clinical research supporting its use across a range of conditions. While ketamine is not FDA approved for mental health indications, its close cousin esketamine is approved.
The following list represents current off label uses from the literature:
Treatment-resistant depression (TRD)
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)
Bipolar depression (depressive episodes)
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Generalized anxiety disorder
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
Fibromyalgia & central sensitization
Neuropathic pain
Migraine and cluster headaches
Chronic low back pain
Substance use disorders
End-of-life existential distress

Not at all! Everyone facilitating this retreat has extensive experience assisting people in engaging in altered state work for the first time. This retreat is designed for both experienced and novice psychedelic practitioners within our supportive and safe environment.
-
There will be three ketamine sessions offered during the retreat. The first night, there will be a low dose whole group “meet the medicine” session, during which all participants will use a low dose of sublingual ketamine in a supported group setting.
The second day will offer a medium dose session, in which you will have a more inward, personal experience with the medicine.
The third day, you will have the opportunity to choose a larger dose which can facilitate a deeper experience, including potentially a fully psychedelic or even mystical experience.
All ketamine journeys will be fully supported by trained staff throughout the full medicine session and afterwards.
-
When used in a therapeutic, controlled environment, ketamine is rarely addictive. While ketamine addiction does occur, this is generally in the setting of street ketamine use. Unlike opiates or stimulants, ketamine does not tend to rewire the dopamine reward system in such a way as to cause craving or compulsive use. Our facilitators will ensure that the use of ketamine is done responsibly and within the therapeutic context of the retreat.
-
If you have a mental health diagnosis like PTSD, it's important to let us know in advance so we can assess whether ketamine-assisted meditation is appropriate for you. In many cases, ketamine has been shown to be helpful for individuals with PTSD, but it’s essential that our facilitators are aware of your history to ensure a safe and supportive experience. You will be asked to complete a medical/psychological intake screening form and intake zoom session with our medical providers prior to final acceptance, and your honest answers will allow us to create a safe and supportive experience for you.
-
Yes, there are certain medical conditions that may contraindicate ketamine use, such as:
Severe heart conditions or high blood pressure
History of psychosis or schizophrenia
Active substance abuse disorder
Certain neurological disorders
If you have any concerns or significant medical conditions, please share them with us beforehand so we can determine whether this retreat is right for you.
-
Profound experiences can bring joy and delight, or uncertainty and change, or both. Sapience facilitators are available for additional guidance as needed to help you integrate your experiences. Sapience offers low-cost ongoing integration sessions if needed as well as resources for finding a therapist.
