KAP for BIPOC Clinicians - Orientation and experiential group for clinicians of color

In keeping with our vision of normalizing the conversation and creating inclusive beloved communities, Sapience is offering a group experiential KAP retreat for clinicians of color.

Program intentions:

  • Share knowledge about KAP

  • Increase awareness

  • Self -care for care providers

  • Create connections and community

  • Improve engagement and opportunities for wider dissemination of knowledge about KAP in marginalized communities

PROGRAM DETAILS:

The program includes an initial Ketamine Didactic and group preparation session, a day long experiential KAP session and an afternoon group integration session, over a 3 week period.

Dates:

  1. Preparation session: 03/15/2024, 3 pm to 6 pm EST, online over zoom

  2. Experiential KAP session: 03/22/2024, 10 am to 5 pm EST, in-person, at the Zen center, 212 Marrett Road, Lexington, MA 02421

  3. Integration session: 03/25/2024, 3 pm to 4.30 pm EST, online over zoom

  4. Medical evaluation and prescription: scheduled prior to the experiential session with our Medical Director Dr. Karen Scott.

Program Fee: $450, $650 or $850. Sliding scale “pay what you can” pricing. Please pay more, if you can, to help support those less able to pay.

Fees to be paid upon acceptance to the program, non-refundable. Please note Medical Evaluation and Prescription are charged separately at the time of evaluation. Please let us know if you already have a prescription for Ketamine.

Please note that donations to this project do not qualify as tax-deductible.

Group size: We want to promote intimate group learning and experience and are limiting participation to 6 clinicians.

Interested clinicians: Kindly email us with your interest to participate in the program. The facilitators will then schedule a 20-30 min interview over phone/zoom to get connected and learn more about your journey and set intentions for the program. Upon acceptance, you will receive an invoice for payment. Please note, payment is due at the time of enrolling into the program, and is non-refundable.

Covid-19 policy: Participants are expected to covid test prior to the event (rapid or PCR accepted) and share a negative test result prior to arrival.

Transportation after KAP session: Given Ketamine is an anesthetic, for safety reasons, please note participants may not drive after the retreat, and need to make travel arrangements. You can either get a ride back home, or use public transportation, there is a bus-stop walking distance from the Zen center to Cambridge’s subway T system. Ride-shares such as Uber are available as well. A self-attestation is included in the consent form specifying post-retreat travel arrangements.

SungLim Shin, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice of Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) in Cambridge, MA. She pivoted to KAP and psychedelic assisted psychotherapy (PAP) after working in a university counseling and personal development center for many years. Informing this shift and providing grounding for KAP and PAP is her long standing practice of Zen meditation of nearly 30 years. Zen Buddhist practice is her source of life direction, intention, and exploring tools and paths for reducing suffering and living more fully. As an immigrant from Korea, she is interested in introducing and supporting KAP and MDMA-assisted psychotherapy (when this becomes legally available) particularly to immigrant, Asian, Asian-American, BIPOC and other underserved communities.

SungLim Shin is trained in KAP through Ketamine Training Center (2019), completed CIIS Certificate in Psychedelic Treatment and Research (CPTR, 2020), certified in MAPS MDMA therapy (2022), and has worked as a Phase 3 study therapist in the MAPS MDMA assisted psychotherapy for PTSD in Boston.

Bhavya Rajanna, MD, FHM

Founder of Sapience Therapy LLC. Practicing Internal Medicine Physician. Trained in Ketamine assisted psychotherapy. Graduate of Center of psychedelic therapy and research program at California Institute of Integral Studies. Passionate about education and research in the field of psychedelic medicine. Focused in studying the neurophysiology and neuropharmacology of psychedelics.

She is the principal investigator in the first large scale KAP data project, studying safety, efficacy and treatment outcomes in multiple ketamine clinics across the country. She is a Yoga Alliance certified teacher of vinyasa and restorative yoga and is trained in trauma informed yoga. She holds a certificate in ayurvedic nutrition, mind-body medicine and guided imagery. Her focus in healing is aligning body, mind and spirit through holistic nutrition, movement, rituals and grounding.
